Not all cannabis edibles are created equal.
At Vandy’s, we believe the quality of your cannabis experience starts long before you take your first bite. It starts with the cannabis we select, the ingredients we source, and the philosophy behind every product we create.
We’re a locally founded craft cannabis brand with a simple mission: Keep Cannabis in Cannabis.
Here’s what that means, and why we think it matters.
A personal experience that inspired a brand.
Vandy’s founder, Steve VanDeWalle, didn’t enter the cannabis industry simply to create another edible brand.
His journey began with a personal experience using full-spectrum CBD while transitioning away from prescription pharmaceuticals.
That experience sparked a fascination with the cannabis plant, the body’s endocannabinoid system, and a concept known as the entourage effect: the theory that the many naturally occurring compounds in cannabis may work together to influence the overall experience.
The more Steve learned, the more passionate he became about preserving the natural complexity of the plant.
But as the legal cannabis industry grew, he noticed something troubling. Many manufacturers were moving toward highly refined THC distillate, stripping away much of the plant’s original chemical profile.
He believed something important was being lost. And so, Vandy’s was born.
Our goal isn’t simply to make cannabis edibles. It’s to create a more complete, intentional cannabis experience that respects the plant and everything it has to offer.

Why we choose live rosin.
Walk into almost any dispensary and you’ll find plenty of edibles made with THC distillate. Distillate is a highly refined cannabis extract that primarily concentrates THC. While it certainly serves a purpose, the refining process removes many of the plant’s other naturally occurring compounds.
At Vandy’s, we take a different approach.
Our edibles are made with solventless live rosin, a premium cannabis concentrate produced using heat and pressure rather than chemical extraction solvents. Live rosin can retain a broader range of the plant’s naturally occurring cannabinoids and aromatic compounds, including terpenes.
| Attribute | THC distillate | Solventless live rosin |
|---|---|---|
| How it is made | Refined and distilled | Heat and pressure, no chemical extraction solvents |
| What it keeps | Primarily THC | A broader range of cannabinoids and terpenes |
| What is lost | Many of the plant’s other compounds | Less of the plant’s original profile |
| In VandyBars | Not used | The cannabis in every bar |
Why does that matter? Because we believe cannabis is about more than THC alone.
The entourage effect is central to our philosophy. While research is still exploring exactly how cannabinoids and terpenes interact, we believe preserving more of the plant’s natural complexity is a worthwhile pursuit.
That’s also why we thoughtfully incorporate cannabinoids like CBD, CBG, and CBN alongside THC in our formulations. Each cannabinoid has its own unique characteristics, and our goal is to create intentional combinations that offer customers a more nuanced cannabis experience.
