Hardware + oil ladder · Distillate to live rosin
Vapes
Heat without combustion.
Cannabis vapes heat oil or flower to a temperature that releases cannabinoids and terpenes as vapor without burning the material. Two decisions matter: hardware format (cart, disposable, pod) and oil quality (distillate, live resin, live rosin). Below is the ladder.
Hardware
Three vape form factors.
| Format | What it is | Pro | Con |
|---|---|---|---|
| 510-thread cart | Screw-on cartridge, requires battery | Reusable battery; choose your oil | Two pieces; battery to maintain |
| All-in-one disposable | Battery + oil pre-attached | Single piece; no setup | Battery dies w/ oil — slight waste |
| Pod system | Brand-locked pod + battery | Tighter draw; closed-system QC | Locked to one brand's pods |
Oil ladder
Distillate to live rosin.
- Distillate — highly refined cannabis oil. 80-95% THC. Often re-flavored with terpenes (cannabis or botanical). Cleanest taste, highest potency, lowest cost. Less full-spectrum.
- Live resin — extracted from fresh-frozen flower (preserves volatile terpenes). 60-85% THC + 10-15% terpenes. Fuller botanical profile.
- Live rosin — solventless extraction from fresh-frozen flower. The premium category. Same flavor depth as live resin, no chemical solvents involved.
- Full-spectrum / CO2 — preserves the broadest cannabinoid + terpene profile via supercritical CO2 extraction.
Three hardware formats (510-thread carts in 0.5g and 1g, all-in-one disposables, pod systems) across four oil grades (distillate, live resin, live rosin, full-spectrum/CO2). All NY-licensed and tested for residual solvents per OCM thresholds.
Why this matters
The residual-solvent gate.
Solvent-extracted oils (distillate, live resin, shatter) start with chemical solvents (typically butane, propane, or ethanol) that must be purged. Residual solvent testing is critical. NY OCM enforces strict thresholds. We only stock products that pass — and we’ll show you any product’s COA on request.

Vapes FAQ
Hardware + oil questions.
What's the difference between distillate and live resin?
Distillate is highly refined cannabis oil (80-95% THC) often with terpenes added back for flavor — high potency, lower botanical character. Live resin is extracted from fresh-frozen flower preserving the original terpene profile (60-85% THC + 10-15% terpenes). Live rosin is the solventless version of live resin — same fresh-frozen start, no chemical solvents.
Why are some vapes more expensive?
Extraction method drives cost. Distillate is cheapest (high yield, simple process). Live resin is mid-tier (fresh-frozen biomass, more complex extraction). Live rosin is the premium category (solventless, low-yield, time-intensive).
Are vapes safer than smoking?
Vapor produces fewer combustion byproducts than smoke. NY requires residual solvent testing on all extracts, and we only stock products that pass. The general health profile of vaping cannabis is less studied than tobacco vapor — research ongoing.
How long does a 0.5g cart last?
Depends on how heavily you draw. Casual user (5-8 small puffs/day): 2-3 weeks. Regular user (15+ puffs/day): 5-7 days.
