Concentrates

Cannabis, concentrated.

Concentrates are extracted forms of cannabis where cannabinoids and terpenes have been separated from the plant material. The resulting product is 5–10× more potent than flower, typically in the 60–90% THC range. Most-common consumption: dabbing on a heated quartz or ceramic surface in a water-pipe rig.

Live rosin is solventless extraction from fresh-frozen flower; the premium concentrate category.

Cannabis concentrates are extracted forms of the plant where cannabinoids and terpenes have been separated from plant material, producing high-potency products in the 60-90% THC range. Categories: live rosin, live resin, shatter, hash, crumble/wax/budder, distillate. Consumed primarily by dabbing — heating a small portion on a quartz or ceramic surface and inhaling the vapor through a water-pipe-style rig.
How dabbing works

The rig walkthrough.

A small portion of concentrate (the "dab" — about 25-50mg, rice-grain to small-pea sized) is heated on a hot surface (the "banger" — typically quartz or ceramic) inside a water-pipe-style "rig." The resulting vapor is inhaled through the rig.

Modern setups use either a butane torch (heat the banger 30-45 seconds, let cool 30-45 seconds for ideal temp) or an electric "e-nail" (set-and-forget temperature control, more consistent).

Concentrates FAQ

Concentrate questions.

Are concentrates safe for first-time consumers?
No. We do not recommend concentrates for first-time cannabis consumers. The 5-10x potency multiple over flower means even a small dab can produce an overwhelming experience for someone without tolerance. Start with edibles or pre-rolls and graduate to concentrates after a few sessions.
What hardware do I need to dab?
A water-pipe-style "rig" with a quartz or ceramic "banger" (the heat surface). Plus a torch (typically butane, sometimes electric e-nail), a dab tool to portion the concentrate, and optionally a carb cap. Total starter setup runs $50-150.
What is the difference between live resin and live rosin?
Both extract from fresh-frozen flower (preserving terpenes). Live resin uses chemical solvents (butane, propane). Live rosin is solventless — pressed mechanically with heat. Live rosin is the premium category; live resin is more affordable.
How much concentrate is in one dab?
A typical "dab" portion is 25-50mg of concentrate (rice-grain to small-pea-sized). At 70-90% THC, that delivers 17-45mg of THC per dab — equivalent to a 0.3-0.5g flower joint compressed into one inhale.
