Buying cannabis at Union Chill

Buying cannabis.

Do I need a medical card to buy cannabis in New York?
No. Union Chill is a New York adult-use dispensary licensed by the NY Office of Cannabis Management (license OCM-CAURD-25-000269), so any adult 21 or over with a valid government-issued photo ID can shop. No medical card is required, and out-of-state IDs are accepted.
What payment do you accept?
Cash and PIN-required debit only. This is a federal banking restriction that applies to all U.S. cannabis dispensaries — not a Union Chill choice. ATM available on-site.
Are out-of-state IDs accepted?
Yes. Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio, Maryland, Vermont, and other state-issued photo IDs are accepted. Just must show 21+.
Can a parent bring an under-21 person in?
No. No under-21 entry, even with a parent or guardian present. The OCM rules on this are strict.
Do I need to make an appointment?
No. Walk in any time during open hours (Mon-Sat 10am-9pm; closed Sunday). Pickup orders ready in ~30 minutes during open hours.
How much can I buy in one visit?
Up to 3 ounces of cannabis flower OR 24 grams of concentrate per day per adult. Edible packages cap at 100 mg total THC.
Using cannabis safely

Safety + dosing.

Can I drive after consuming cannabis?
No. Cannabis impairs reaction time and judgment, and DUI under New York law applies to any cannabis use regardless of where the cannabis was purchased. Plan for at least 6-8 hours after edibles or 3-4 hours after inhaled cannabis before driving — longer windows for higher doses.
What's a safe starting dose?
For first-time or returning-after-years shoppers: 1-2.5 mg of an edible. Wait 90 minutes before considering more (peak hits at 90-120 min). For inhaled cannabis: one small pull, wait 30 minutes, evaluate.
What happens if I take too much?
You'll be uncomfortable for a few hours but you're not in physical danger. Hydrate, eat something starchy, find a calm space, consider a CBD tincture (CBD modulates a high-THC reaction). Effects fade over 4-6 hours total. Severe physical symptoms warrant calling 911.
Can I consume cannabis at the dispensary?
No. New York law prohibits consumption at retail dispensaries. Take it home or to another private location where consumption is legal.
Where can I legally use cannabis in NY?
Private property (home or with property owner permission). Public locations where tobacco smoking is allowed (subject to local rules). Prohibited: schools, federal property, vehicles, within sight of children.
Cross-state + cross-border

NY ↔ PA (and beyond).

Can I bring NY cannabis into Pennsylvania?
No. Cannabis purchased in New York must remain in New York. Crossing into Pennsylvania with a legally-purchased NY product is a federal offense (Controlled Substances Act) and a separate state crime under PA law.
Why do PA residents come here?
Pennsylvania has not legalized adult-use cannabis as of 2026. Adults 21+ from Tioga, Bradford, and Lycoming counties drive north to NY for legal purchases. Mansfield 30 min, Wellsboro 40 min, Tioga 25 min.
Can I fly with cannabis?
No. TSA can refer to local law enforcement. Federal property (airports) puts cannabis at risk regardless of source-state legality. Don't fly with cannabis.
Product questions

Strain, format, chemistry.

How long do edibles take to kick in?
Cannabis edibles typically take 45-90 minutes to take effect, peak at 90-120 minutes after ingestion, and last 4-6 hours total. Onset is slower because THC must pass through the stomach and liver before reaching the bloodstream — converting to 11-hydroxy-THC, a stronger and longer-lasting compound.
What is the difference between live resin and live rosin?
Live resin is hydrocarbon-extracted (BHO) from fresh-frozen flower. Live rosin is solventless — fresh-frozen flower pressed mechanically with heat, no chemical solvents. Live rosin is the premium solventless category.
What is a COA?
Certificate of Analysis. Issued by a NY-certified independent lab for every product on our shelf. Lists potency (THC, CBD), terpene profile, and absence of pesticides, residual solvents, heavy metals, mold. Ask any budtender to show you.
What is the difference between THC and CBD?
THC binds CB1 receptors in the brain to produce the cannabis high. CBD doesn't significantly bind CB1 — it's non-intoxicating. Together in ratio products (1:1, 2:1) CBD reduces racing-mind effects of THC while preserving body relaxation.
Do you carry CBD-only products?
Yes. CBD-only tinctures, topicals, and some balanced ratio edibles. Useful for workday compatibility, anxiety-prone shoppers, or wellness-only goals.
