In the community.

How Union Chill engages with Corning, Steuben County, and the broader Southern Tier — sponsorships, donations, equity hiring, NY craft cultivator support. Below: what we do + why it matters.

Part

Sponsorships + donations.

We sponsor local literacy programs, the Corning food pantry, and Seneca Lake watershed initiatives. We do NOT put our logo on those donations — we believe cannabis-branded marketing into community organizations sets the wrong precedent.

Part

Equity hiring.

NY MRTA centered equity in cannabis industry rebuilding. Our hiring practice prioritizes opportunity for BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, veteran, and formerly-incarcerated communities — communities disproportionately harmed by decades of cannabis prohibition. Our compliance lead came from the NY OCM equity track.

Part

NY craft cultivator support.

15+ NY-licensed cultivator partners on our shelf. We rotate weekly to give small-batch growers visibility + revenue. Premium tier prioritized for craft NY drops vs MSO bulk product. Our buyer travels to NY cultivator sites monthly to maintain direct relationships.

Part

Local events.

We host cannabis education evenings at the store (free, 21+, RSVP required). We co-sponsor Corning maker-community events. We participate in GlassFest + ArtsFest weekend programming as a Gaffer District small-business neighbor.
